I've got Spring Break starting next Friday, so you know what that means:

Now you should all go listen to Rusty's recordings of the four songs he played at his show last night. They're up on his Myspace profile.

You should also check out this guy's really awesome art.

If you don't follow the linkies for binkies . . .

Jen Ben and Kel Bel

I've found the next generation of those who carry on the spirit of the gloryblog (not that they know who we are). If Carrie and I were nineteen-year-old girls from Slidell, we would be Jen and Kel (not sure who's who).

You can find them here at their MySpace account (a site that's good for one or two things).

I recommend watching all of their videos, especially the short one (right now, it's the second one) where they don't unwrap their microwave popcorn. It will fill you with joy and glee. (They also have a video of them performing a dance to a remix of "My Humps.")

I've done a rare thing and tried to become their MySpace friend, but they ain't bitin'. Maybe they'll discover this tribute to them and love us. In the meantime, we can love them. We love you, Jen and Kel.

Lost & Found

You may remember that for Chistmas Rusty gave me some Boo Boo socks that said "Kiss my Boo Boo." Here I am after opening them:

Some time soon after New Year's and our trip to Washington DC, they disappeared. I hadn't worn them yet. I was depressed about it, because they were a thoughtful present from my Boo Boo and because I thought I had been stupid and careless. I figured they were under a bed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington DC. The good news is that yesterday, when I was putting away laundry, I found them! They'd somehow fallen back behind my drawers! So I promised Roo Roo I'd post a picture of me wearing them. Here it is, folks:

My committe is pictured below. Rick, Steve, Julia, and Angela. (Martina couldn't make it):

Their faces say, "We don't want to read your suburban stories any more. Please, now, take this degree. We have dogs to take care of."

I'm Picasso

Carrie is my girlfriend. She's smart and pretty and nice. That's not a picture of us, but it's a white boy and girl with lots of hair, so it's close enough.

No, Not Bird FLU

Lots I could post about today. A new Strawberry Explosion single is coming out, Carrie and I have a great restaurant idea, lots of new pictures to put up... but someone visited me today I'd like you to meet. I took a picture of him.

That's right. It's Jesus, the Son of God.

Do I laugh at people who see Jesus and Mary in their toast and soiled matresses? Yes. Was I just a little bit moved to see my own personal Jesus riding with me in my car, just to the left of me on my window, in the form of bird dookie? Yes.

Glory to the highest. Listen to that "GLORY!" MP3 over there to the right again if you haven't in a while.

No longer lonely,
No longer sad,

You All Lose the Literary Reference Game.

Happy Birthday to Rusty's parents, both of whom are celebrating a birthday today, because they're just that kind of couple.

Regarding the literary reference in my last post, the answer is this passage from Raymond Carver's story "So Much Water So Close to Home":

I dress carefully. I try on a hat I haven't worn in several years and look at myself in the mirror. Then I remove the hat, apply a light makeup, and write a note for Dean.

Honey, Mommy has things to do this afternoon, but will be home later. You are to stay in the house or in the back/yard until one of us comes home. Love

I look at the word "Love" and then I underline it. As I am writing the note I realize I don't know whether back yard is one word or two. I have never considered it before. I think about it and then I draw a line and make two words of it.
